Helio offers feature rich mobile technology. Devices that include
mobile broadband, video, music, and GPS capability. The devices are
priced in the high end range starting at $80 although sometimes
these devices have been on sale for less.
Helio is secretly the best wireless provider in the U.S. when it
comes to coverage and reliability as Helio devices can access
the CDMA networks of Sprint and Verizon and also connect
to the AMPS/DAMPS network currently in Alltel's hands.
Helio offers prepaid plans, and "All in" plans for a monthly fee starting
at $65. All in service includes night & weekend minutes, IM, pictures,
myspace mobile, and GPS features.
Helio also announced an unlimited plan for $145/month. This plan
includes unlimited minutes, text messages, and web access. Heavy
users and those use their wireless phone as an "only phone" will
find this plan very attractive.
Helio targets the high tech early adopter crowd but, offers contract
free options and is an alternative to the big primary service providers.
Helio service and equipment prices are on the higher end of the scale.
Although the service is worth it, You
have to pay to be this cool. The kids will probably wind up sticking with
Boost Mobile. Media freaks will find
Amp'd Mobile to be competitive.
I personally own and use a Helio Ocean as my primary phone and I have
a contract plan. I would highly recommend Helio as a provider for those
people who use contract cell phones. However, more youthful wireless
phone users who are on a budget might be better off shopping around.
Helio is available at F.Y.E. store locations and online at helio.com.
