NET 10 is the lowest cost prepaid provider when considering cost per minute.
NET 10 offers service for 10 cents per minute with no other fees. Text
messages cost 5 cents to send and receive.
NET 10 uses GSM technology and the Cingular/AT&T network is most areas.
They also use the T-Mobile network in some areas. Signal quality and
coverage is excellent because Cingular/AT&T is one of the largest and most
dependable networks in the U.S.
NET 10 expires phone service if not recharged within 60 days which is lower
than the average of 90 days. They do however provide service for more days
if you buy more minutes at once. Because of this fact - if you are looking
for a "backup cell phone" or "emergency cell phone" NET 10 may not be the cheapest alternative.
NET 10 does not offer web browsers or other advanced features with their service. It's just a basic phone and SMS text messaging service. Technophiles
may be happier with other providers who offer advanced features.
NET 10 is owned by TracFone Wireless a subsidiary of Mexican telecom giant America Movil. Oddly TracFone's flagship prepaid service is one of the most expensive service providers. They bought out NET 10, perhaps
to make it less of a competitive threat.
