Verizon Wireless has one of the best wireless phone networks in the U.S. It's prepaid Verizon InPulse plans are among the most expensive plans we have reviewed and the equipment costs are equally hefty.

Verizon charges a .99 per day access fee (even if you don't use the service). So any way you cut it, you are going to at least pay $30 per month. Say you talk an average of 200 minutes to off-network customers, that is going to put your bill at about $50 per month.

The upside is that Verizon doesn't deduct minutes on nights, weekends, and to other Verizon customers. So, the only reason you will ever want a prepaid plan from Verizon is if all your friends and family are on Verizon plans.

If you happen to think Verizon is just spiffy and you don't want to pay up the wazoo, try Prexar which offers the Verizon network at lower prices.
